Summer in photos: our DANCE IN THE SUN 2012

Neighborhood block parties, western throwdowns, patchwork of towels in the sand, classic outdoor adventures, flip flops and sunshine:  THIS is SUMMER.

Summer is a short cluster of concentrated bliss, with schedules unraveled and relaxation celebrated in excess.    Fall is my favorite season (I say that every year!) but summer is glorious is every single little way.

Our summer fun list sticker board is complete! We are now organizing backpacks and getting new haircuts, but the pleasures of summertime lingers awhile longer in our spirits.  If you tried to ring our doorbell this season, we were probably off on some adventure!

This is a collection of our favorite moments from the hottest months of our year 2012:

Celebrating timeless classics are what I treasure and try to infuse into my sweet boys lives throughout each season!  A simple handmade tree swing with a wooden seat and long rope is the MOST LOVED outdoor toy my boys have!

I've shared before about this swing when sharing Christmas gifts ideas last year HERE.  I discovered this outdoor swing in an etsy shop: THE ORIGINAL TREE SWING This swing in a true treasure, beautifully crafted and perfect quality!  They also sell other handmade classic treasures.  I'm in LOVE with this swing and so are my boys!

Our neighbors hosted an AWESOME block party to kick off the season!

For those moments when you just want to kick on a pair of cowboy boots:
a Western Music Throwdown hosted by the amazing couple, Hans and Kathy!

Also in early June, we celebrated my brother's birthday at my parent's house with a comfort classic dinner of chicken and dumplings with homemade apple pie...ALL compliments of my mom!

Classic WATER fun:

I shared MORE classic water fun photos on THIS past blog post

Hey! Grandpa is trying it too, and he's good!

Dakotah made a homemade SCARY zipline!
More info about this on my oldest son's new blog:

The zipline was part of one of their summertime forts.
You could also read about the Outside Fort on my oldest son's blog HERE.
Kotah made a hammock inside the fort-- TOO COOL!
Please STAY OUT of the fort everybody. =)

Road trips on long highways our west.

Thunderstorms in the mountains

It's the summer's end,
but all endings only come with
new beginnings.
The seasons are a process of
beauty reinvented for our pleasure.

Awesome post, Lisa. Each and every picture made me smile. I can't believe you were able to snap that perfect photo of Monument Valley, with your cell phone, while driving. You, LoverGirl, have serious photography skills!
