A relaxed summer home: season's decor 2012

Let's pretend it's still the beginning of the new sunshine summertime.  It IS still full on summer in Colorado, the rays still warming my skin from the outside straight to the inside.  Our home has worn some sunshine too, appropriate for the kick back, chill, sweeeet summmatime!

This dainty, antiqued tea cup is from my grandma.  She is from California and no state demonstrates the summer season better than California.

I have my AMAZING, supersized sunshine painting, proudly hanging over our mantel.  I've shared the You Are My Sunshine story before here

A canvas of my boys splashing in the water from last year...

You are my sunshine...yes YOU.

I also pull out my can't-live-without homemade soaps in summer scents, florals, lavenders, and citrus. You all know how I adore homemade soap and how I hope I never have to use store bought again.  Thanks to Sarah and Sarah Lee's Soaps.  I can't wait to order my fall scents...

Also in the summer, I keep our antique styled wagon by the front door with a sun hat, sunscreen and bug spray inside the bucket for a safe spray and go before the kids head outside.  I also roll up their beach towels on the bottom rack because they are constantly being used in these months!

I'm a Farmer's Market girl!  It's one of our most loved summer evening activities to enjoy in our town. I keep my Farmer's Market wall hanging on display during these months, paired with giant, mellow grey candles.

Because of the Farmer's Market, our home is always stocked with fresh produce in the summer.

The boys pop these tomatoes like candy!

I recently made a light avocado egg salad that I found on SkinnyTaste, made primarily with mashed avocados instead of mayonnaise.

Hanging in my kitchen below my Luscious Pie sign  is a soft n light summer apron... and YES, I've been baking some pies too!

Our calendar shows off beautiful flowers for these extra warm months.  I would show you all the amazing photos of my potted flowers but SNAP, I didn't plant any this year.  My bad.

We have a quiet reading and music corner to cool off under the AC with my giant, overstuffed grain sack pillow.

One of my dearest friends I've met through blogs, Jane, sent me this mini canvas that SHE painted! She is so talented and she paints a lot of bold, happy prints.  She lives by the sea and her heart is there too so she often paints sea themed canvases.  I was SO excited when she surprised me with one of her paintings!  It made me feel loved and happy.  Jane is an incredible woman, full of life and wisdom.  She possesses both inner strength with a steady love, coupled with incredible talent and energy to experience life.  She adds so much to my life and I thank God I have her.  She blogs at Artfully Graced, and Jane is truly one "artfully Graced" woman.

This by the sea canvas fits me so well that it makes me smile every time I see it!  I {heart} shopping, especially at stores like Pottery Barn and Tiffany.   She added the perfect touch of playful whimsy to my own special painting!

Finally, a free message in our home sweet home...

And one of my favorite quotes is....

"Wherever you go,
bring your own sunshine!"

I always love reading your post. This one is no different. One thing that I thought of is how do you use the soap? It must have ten spinkles! -Cameron

I share your love for handmade soap. Definitely something I need to learn to do on my own one day.

I love them all! As my friend living in scottsdale az apartments would say, don't be afraid to experiment with decors and accessories for your home.
