For Easter, we celebrated in the Colorado outdoors at Rabbit Valley, Colorado. (We called it EASTER Rabbit Valley for this trip!) Last week I mentioned that I was using those ginormous, bright, plastic eggs for a super fun activity for the boys on Easter. I set up a Bunny Hop workout contest at our camp for them to complete in the springtime sunshine.
There were various egg stations with an exercise to complete at each stop. Each boy had to do the exercise Xs his age. So, if the stop was jumping jacks, each boy would do as many jumping jacks as his age.
I had some exciting obstacles set up along the circuit. And the boys could quickly collect prize eggs along the way.
A giant blue plastic egg marked the start of the course, with plenty of H20 and energy snacks for the contestants.
I used the egg cling wraps that come in PAAS egg dye kits to make the water Easter-ish.
Inside the plastic carrot eggs were yogurt covered raisins INSTEAD of jelly beans to add a bit more nutritional value. These treats were reserved until AFTER the competition.
Each boy got some energy Buddy Fruit and a name tag. These names were also taken from the PAAS egg dye kits. (Can't let all the goodies in those kits go to waste!) ;)
The boys contest names were Cotton Tail for Cameron, Terrance Turtle for Titus, and Maxwell Mouse for Dakotah.
Each boy competed individually, not at the same time. We used a stopwatch to track their times and the boy with the quickest time would win! To make it fair, each boy had to do as many repetitions as his age.
The boys wore their new tie dye shirts
from their Easter baskets.
In it to win it!
READY____SET____GO!
Prepared to attack the challenge...
They had to do
BUNNY HOPS,
RABBIT LEAPS,
and EGG SWINGS.
DUCK FLAPS...
And my favorite, EGG CRACKERS.
Go, go, go!
Even my Dad was in on it...
for a second.
Time to hydrate when finished!
Each contestant did AWESOME!
And we have a competitive winner!
The boys loved it so much that they wanted to do it again and again.
Superheros in the making!
The exciting egg PRIZES they collected around the course were
mini-sized super heroes just for my own little super heroes!
And they all lived happily ever after...
until the next fierce competition! {wink}
The Egg-cerise Contest
was such a sweaty, dusty fun way
to be active and celebrate Easter!
Tomorrow I will share family stuff about what we did the rest of this spring holiday.
Part ONE: Easter Morning Kite Flying
PART TWO: Egg-ercise Circuit Contest

I was super impressed with each of our boys when we did this. They were very competitive while remaining kind and humble. Plus this was a fun way to break Easter norms and encourage physical activity.
Such a great idea! The boys are adorable and I can't believe how much they have grown. Thanks for sharing! xo ~Liz
Looks like they had a blast!
My son's school did an obstacle course for their egg hunt and he just loved it! What kid doesn't love the added challenge and burning off all of that pint-size holiday energy!?

What a great way to get the kids active and have a fun time as a family! Love it!
I would love if you would share this at my link party. http://www.realcoake.com/2013/03/real-family-fun-6.html
Take care,

Great ideas!!! This can be a new annual tradition for your family. Your boys have such good examples in you and Chris...teaching them always to respect and encourage each other. These learned traits will carry them far into adulthood.
I love seeing Titus (?) rocking the tie...reminds me of my youngest. (I think he had more ties than his dad!)
Hugs to you all...and Happy Easter!
What a fun way to get kids moving. I bet they will remember this for years to come. Just pinned!
