Christmas Magic Home Tour 2009

Our home is fully decked in Christmas Magic for the holidays.
I like to transform it into holiday sparkles while the boys still have the wonder
that children possess.
Someday, I think it would be exciting to decorate with a
subtle,
tasteful,
and simple look,

adding natural holiday elements throughout.

It would be gorgeous!
But for now,
every space is magic.

I'm on a wreath and ribbon phase...

Draping Garland always instantly sets the scene.
I added white pinecones and some long hanging ornaments.

Bottom of the stairs...And top of the stairs!
This is my angelic vintage setting.
I also like to sprinkle season appropriate family photos
around my decor scenes.
Layering is a FUN decorating technique.
For example, with this pinecone arrangement I started with a wire cake stand,
and layered on a square plate,
ending with a rusted looking tin.

Pinecones and jute found their place throughout my home sweet home.
This shelf is my simple and calming spot.
And once again, more holiday family photos from holidays past...
I have 2 baby trees in our office with a natural and rustic look fitting for
Colorado.
On this first tree,
I have it wrapped in burlap with the garland around the skirt instead of on the tree.
Poinsettias are snuggled in burlap too.
And the matching baby tree...
Our dining room hutch is topped with some winter charm:
Pinecone kissing balls
and larger than life snowflakes.
Also in the dining room is my little BUTTON corner!
Buttons on frames,
candle holders,
and even button snowflakes...

Each year I decorate our kitchen in Gingerbread Men and Candy.
More photos on this in a later post.

Details...
napkins cuddled in a quilted holiday holder.
This sled is from my childhood American Girl Doll collection
and it sits next to another of my collection loves,
Longaberger baskets.
Everyone knows how much I adore my own little PINK space!
I made a feather wreath for our powder room.
I did a post here on how easy and inexpensive these are to make!
Align Left
Big, Luscious bows are always a staple with Christmastime decor!
Don't you just LOVE bows? ;)

Some whimsy for the heart...

My all-time FAVORITE Christmas arrangement is this table!!
This is actually 2 flour sack towels with ruffled edges that I used as the runner.
You can find them at the Shabby Chic Cottage on etsy of course!
Worn ruffles and roses are just perfect...soooo more pictures...
Most of you already saw this gold Nativity Mantel on a previous post.
Upstairs is the KID'S ZONE
where the boys get to decorate
and have full reign of how and what they want.

This little Santa and reindeer is special to me. I had one growing up that hung over my bed until I married and moved out! When I was little I would stare at it with my bedroom tree lights on and SERIOUSLY think non-stop about Santa Claus coming to MY HOUSE!!!
Did you have one of these?

They each get a tree in their own room, just as I did as a little girl.
My Dad surprised them all with fake trees this year and they were on cloud 9.
(And yes, this is my COOL Dad)
They were talking all at once,
and helping each other prep their trees
before they moved them into their rooms...
The boys were in a buzz decorating everything upstairs,
scissors and paper going crazy.

This is Kotah's tree.
He is such an artistic little guy and it completely warmed my heart
to see his garland creation out of paper with the paper angel.
He goes straight to work on his projects...
always unassisted,

and makes us all SMILE.

And a quiet reminder of the One who we celebrate.

Adorning our home

for the Christmas season

is important to me

because I want to transform it

into a wonderland for KIDS,

so they can have

their own happy place

where magic happens

in a vibrant atmosphere.

I love it all. It is so fun to see all the decor.

Well on that girl thing--I had 3 boys before my girl. You will have to e-mail me--there are a few things you might want to know. And did you know your chances of a girl increase as your hubby gets older?

Hi Lisa!
I sure enjoyed the visit with you and your family. You have achieved your goal...your home is a wonderland of Christmas beauty. I know your children will remember the fun they had with you, decorating the trees and memory building. I especially love the reminders, throughout your home, that Jesus is the reason we celebrate Christmas.
Hugs to you...
Jane (artfully graced)

Thanks for the sweet comment you left on my blog, you always make my day when you visit! I just LOVE all of the burlap you used and the boys decorating the trees is priceless! I also love your staircase garland, I am still working on mine, that is why I only showed the bear...between us the couple red ornaments you see are all I have put on...

Best wishes,
Tammy

Where to begin? It's all so beautiful. I'm enchanted with the button snowflakes and the hot pink wreath especially, but it's all so lovely! Thanks for sharing and Merry Christmas!

You did a fantastic job on your house. It looks magical and stylish. My favorite part is that you let each of the boys have their own trees in their rooms. So cool. They will have those wonderful memories when they grow up to reflect back on. Another really neat thing you do is make your spouse realize how special he is to you (I read the post before). You reminded me how important it is to make sure that they know how much you love them (and want them ;)

I always love your decorating, very tasteful and put together.

You had American Girl dolls when you were a kid? Hubby and I were just talking about when they came out. I remember looking at catalogs when I was 10 or 11 but my sister was always the one who was really into dolls. Despite the fact it put me over budget Santa is brining my two girls American Girl dolls this year. I am SO excited! I can't wait to take them to the American Girl store in NYC. I think my sister is going to be jealous (either that or buy them a ton of American Girl stuff).

Merry Christmas!
