Comfort Christmas Home Tour 2012

Welcome to our holiday home 2012!

Last year I really focused on using all live plants and elements of nature throughout our home to draw in peace.  Previous years I've stuffed every corner to deliver the magic of Christmas for our family, this year I wanted to focus on comfort,  to easily frame a December Christmas for our eyes to take in for 25 days.

A bucket of snowballs and our winter stick star are cuddled in the corner of our front porch.  "and since we've no place to go, let it snow, snow, snow".

This year our mantel is lined with a glittery Christmas village!

I have an entire post showing our Christmas Mantel 2012 here: Glittered Christmas Village Mantel.

Sometimes I swag garland down the stairs, but this year I just hung our bulky jingle bells at the bottom of the staircase.

One of my favorite Christmas arrangements of the season are my snowflakes made of straw!  I found them in a special shop window last year on our vacation to Aspen, Colorado, and snatched them out of their window and took them straight home.

They are hanging in our front office.

Delicately made of STRAW...

I bought this most adorable Christmas painting last year and used as my mantel centerpiece.  This year it is framed by the straw snowflakes!

Little vignettes about the office too, like this red poinsettia garden and my favorite joyful snowmen!

Last year I made a button and pinecone tree in our office.

I am still LOVING the buttons so I scalloped them around a short tree in the corner of our dining room.  I set the tree right on top of our normal houseplant to give it more height.

The tree has button garland and lights only, no ornaments.

Most of my decor in my dining room is all natural.

Our stockings aren't hung over the "fireplace with care" this year.  They each get a hook on the dining room wall instead.

Snow light on our soft stockings...

Our advent wreath waits for us in the center of our table.

Notes of anticipation are left throughout the house.

The kids get the entire upstairs to decorate...and OH have they decorated!  So much of our season's magic is alive in each of their rooms.  They each get their own tree to decorate.  Other signs of little people are tucked around our home too:

Cameron made this canvas bag for Chris when he was five.  He drew and colored the picture and I had it put onto a bag.  The artful tree was made by Dakotah.  It reminds me of Anthropologie!  ;)  He used scraps of things around the house and creatively made a three dimensional wall tree.

We also have our Christmas book wagon.  Christmas books are a top favorite December tradition of mine!  I've left the boys notes on the inside of covers each year.  We continually add to our collection.  Some of the books are left from my childhood.

Books are always a mainstay in our home.

A cozy Christmas reading corner...

...or two!

Our kitchen is still decorated with gingerbread men and candy, just like it has been every.single.year!  I'm not sharing more pictures, because I've already shown them before here.

In our master bedroom, I pulled out my childhood Precious Moments Nativity set.  I've had this for all the Christmases that I can remember.  Our master bedroom set is also the same furniture I had as a little girl!  Soooo...! I arranged my nativity the same PLACE and WAY it was always arranged when I was child.  I have countless memories gazing at this set at night, when the room was dark but the lights under it, lit up each Nativity character.  It always soothed my soul, and still does.

This year, I used strings of yarn as snow and I hung the stocking I knit last season behind the scene.

I kept only a glittery wreath wrapped candle on our coffee table.

Our living room is ALL THAT GLITTERS this year!  With devotion to sparkles, glimmers, and shine, I made a sequin tree vignette.

I used gilded paper doilies as giant snowflakes.

Puffy sparkly bows and extra puffy tree skirt.  The tree skirt is actually a REAL little girl's skirt. ;) I hung a string of sequins as garland too.

From every angle, it sparkles and shines.

That's just about a wrap on our 2012 Christmas Home Tour.  A huge quilt hangs over our doorway that has our last name monogrammed in the center: MOORE FAMILY.

Oh...we even found some real mistletoe and it is hanging SOMEwhere in our home!

Sending Christmas kisses from our home to yours.
And may all your days be bright.
