Ideas for the best morning of the year: Christmas Breakfast!



Christmas morning breakfast is the Grand Entrance to the best day of the year.  It's that ONE morning of the year where the magic in the air takes us away from the everyday and into a storybook.

Making breakfast special on Christmas morning is one of my loves.

 


Traditions are often used for this meal!  We have a tradition of homemade cinnamon rolls with homemade cream cheese frosting on this breakfast.  A lot of people share this tradition!  I make them a day or two in advance and freeze until Christmas.  





Another Christmas breakfast tradition I started when I got married 
was taping hidden lotto tickets under our breakfast plates 
for everyone to scratch off when they clean their plate.

My mom prepares an egg casserole for Christmas morning.  
It makes the house smell divine and is a super start to our day.  
Serving breakfast casseroles is also a tradition that a lot of people share!  
I found a gem on Pinterest with a resource of 34 Christmas breakfast casseroles!




Those are just a handful of our Christmas breakfast traditions.  
I would LOVE to know some of yours!

Now I have some new ideas as you sit down to the table...




We had a December breakfast last week that 
I think would be IDEAL for Christmas morning.  

These baby crustless tarts were
dotted with RED & GREEN for the holiday.

I recently discovered Peppadew peppers at our local grocery store's fresh pepper and olive bar.  They are from South Africa and have a mildly sweet flavor.  These peppers are often served as appetizers, stuffed with goat cheese.  I wanted to use them in our egg tarts to add some holiday color to our meal.





I made crustless tarts, but you can easily prepare them with a thin bottom crust as well.  Mix 1 cup skim milk into 5-6  beaten eggs.  Add chopped green onions, chopped Peppadew peppers, shredded Havarti cheese,  a few drops of Green Tabasco, salt, pepper, and garlic salt.  Bake at 375 F until eggs are firm throughout.


Tarts are an excellent option for Christmas morning breakfast because they can be served at room temperature so you can prepare them ahead and save time in the kitchen on the best morning of the year!


Jam Pastry Straws make the perfect pair with egg tarts!  I found these beautiful straws on....(you know it!)....Pinterest!


 
These are extra simple to make.

You have some really yummy looking foods here. I found a recipe a couple of years ago on a blog for Blueberry Buckle, it was delicious! We picked fresh berries this summer so I am really looking forward to making it with them. Merry Christmas to you all!

Those tarts look amazing!

We have orange juice, blueberry muffins, and scrambled eggs every Christmas morning since I was a kid. I rarely eat that exact combination on any other morning!

Christmas breakfast is a tradition that I am honored to get to carry out for my dear family. Your crustless tarts and cinnamon rolls may have to debut this year at my house! These are some great ideas! For some reason we never did Christmas breakfast growing up...maybe my mom gave up because we were always too excited to eat? ;) Since I'm married now, my husband & I will be enjoying coffee & cinnamon rolls on Christmas morning. Hurray! :)

I've never thought to put peppadews in my breakfast tart or quiche, but it makes sense! It adds beautiful color and flavor, and it's perfect for the holiday season. I could eat those things one after the other...they taste SO good! Best wishes to you and all your boys for a wonderful Christmas...breakfast and beyond!

What a yummy breakfast! We grew up with an Italian Christmas eve dinner -- followed by midnight mass....coming home and opening gifts with my grandmother's fruitcake and wine. In the morning everyone would sleep in and I would fix a special breakfast of eggs and cheese for the dogs. When I married we tried to hit both of our parents homes for Christmas eve -- and I fixed breakfast casserole for our family and anybody who wanted to drop by. I guess I got my early start with Christmas breakfasts fixing them for the dogs! Now our daughter has taken over that tradition.

those pastry straws look amazing! my family always eats "stirts" on chrismas morning which is a restaurant from my great-grandmother. it's basically cooked and chopped up dough with cinnamon and sugar all over it. yum!
