If Walls Could Talk

I have a wild infatuation with wall art. If we walk through a home decor store I stop and stare at EVERY piece of wall art. It's a weakness, but a pleasurable one. It's my favorite thing to buy for my home. I cringe at walls covered in wall hangings though, so I keep my obsession in as much moderation as possible.
I wanted to share a few of my dear favorites that grace our
home sweet home.

This is a Good Housekeeping vintage magazine cover stretched over a box frame. It is from Ballard Designs. It's in my laundry room.
By the way, I want to paint this room, what color should I use?

This whole pink guest bathroom collection is also from the beloved Ballard Designs. (I will have to share my incredible bond with Ballard Designs in a later post...it was sort of a "love at first sight type of thing") The posh pink dresses are my all time favorite wall hangings! They are painted on canvas on box frames.
This was actually water-colored especially for us while Chris and I were in Venice, Italy. So it has much sentimental value!

This little sign is a treat that curtsies for our company in the entryway. The push pin is also from Ballard Designs...notice the trend?

This pair is perfect above our bathtub in the master bathroom!

This Living Room piece whispers a peaceful promise and is painted on a slab of solid, heavy wood.
I hope you enjoyed a sample of our walls. How can I end without first unraveling my wish list and sharing it with you?

On the top of this list
these 2 signs impatiently wait:

Found at Ballard Designs, this is perfect for a fresh, cheery dining room. I'm into cherries right now too, so this is I-deal!

...Next, {just breathe}. When I saw this set I literally pranced around my house acting like a Fruit Loop wanting to order it right then. Sadly it is from England and shipping alone is 100 green ones. Maybe I can make it instead? Maybe YOU can make it? Let me know...because I'm crazy about this.

Here it is...have you EVER seen anything better than this?! Taken from the Beatles song:

What is on your walls?
Do they mirror who YOU are...
your personality,
your life experiences,
your loves?

Or are they just random wall hangings hammered onto a wall like a lonely empty home staged by a Realtor?
If your walls could talk...what would they say about you?

I didn't know the pink dresses were your favorite. That's good info! If you had to choose between the "All You Need Is Love"and the "Cherry's" which would it be?

Lisa, I really think with how crafty you are, you could totally make the "Beatles" signs. I did a craft project where we printed letters onto a wallpaper design and then glued them to a decorative board we had pre-painted. It was then coated with an enamel seal. (I'll post a pic on my blog). Something like that might work! Good luck!

I recently ordered a painting and a series of photos from a couple of fellow bloggers and I heart them! Love the sentimentality behind your Venice painting!

OK, I love love this post! =) I completely agree that what a person hangs in their homes can tell you a lot about them. I love seeing what people surround themselves with. =)

I LOVE the 'All you need is love' art and you could totally make it yourself. =) I would buy a couple of blank canvases at a craft store (2 for $20ish), paint it black and then stencil on the words OR buy sticker/vinyl letters and then spray-paint over them and peel the letters off after it dries. I might just have to try it myself. =)

I love the bathtub pictures in your master bathroom! They are so cute. I keep looking at your laundry room, and I have no idea what color would be best for those walls. That's a tough one.

How about painting it the beautiful golden yellow color on the rim of the tub and the blanket/rug that is under it?

I love wall hangings too but I am always afraid to actually put it up. I worry that I will hate it and be stuck with a hole in the wall. How dumb is that? It took me 7 years and two wall colors before I hung my beloved photographs in the hallway. I don't kid about this, girlie.

No way I can tell you how much I love the pink bathroom and the wall hangings to match.

And the vintage is all what I am about when it comes to decorating. I have a home tour my daughter did scheduled to post while I am away on vacation in September. you will see what I mean.

Happiest of Saturdays!

Everyone can see the obvious you point out the obscure! I love the touches you've used to make your home "a home!" I don't think I will hang a thing on a wall until I think about it now :) I was thinking of a rusty, mustard color when you mentioned painting that room!

I love your choices of art. They all say something to our soul. Love the one from Venice. Thank you so much for stopping by and your gracious comments and becoming a follower. I hope you will join us for the "Cloche Party". If you don't know about it, it's not just for cloches, but for vases, apothecary jars or any kind of container that you can decorate inside. It really is a lot of fun to see what everyone creates. I will have Mr. Linky up on the evening of the 10th so you can just log in to join. I really hope you will join the party. Hugs, Marty

Thanks so much for the sweet comment you left on my blog. Reading it was a great way to start the morning!
The all you need is love sign was being sold in a bloggers Etsy shop. I don't see it there right now, but you could email her and find out if she would make one for you. Here's the link to her blog where she showed the signs- http://mysweetsavannah.blogspot.com/2009/06/all-you-need-is-love.html

Hi Lisa,
I am so glad to meet you. Thanks for your delightful comment on my AU football post. I'm sure we will be visiting back and forth.

Your wall art post is wonderful. You have such eclectic taste...like me! I, too, love to decorate my walls. I change them all the time.

Just this week, I came across a new (to me) company who specializes in vinyl words, pictures, etc for the walls. UpperCase is a direct sales, party plan company. Their catalog looks interesting and has a wonderful selection of cutouts from which to choose. They also do custom work...which I am having done when I find someone who sells the products. You might like to check this out...

Wow I am glad you stopped by, Ilove your blog, so fresh and bright, not to mention those beautiful boys of yours...

White pumpkins should be out soon, I bought some last year and when the season was done I threw them in my compost bin, now I have more and some great big fat cinderella pumpkins too!
Enjoy this beautiful weekend,
Hugs,
Donna

I really enjoyed seeing all your wall art, such a nice collection!

How about red for the wall in the laundry room. Red is opposite green on the color chart and should look good, that is, if you like red! ;-) Orange might be good too! Let us know what you decide on.
