Introducing the 2. 0. 1. 3. with a simple shiny New Year's Eve celebration

The end of one thing and the beginning of another is always a time to celebrate.  Energy is heightened when millions of us collectively celebrate the same end and the same beginning at nearly the same time.    It's exciting to be united and it's exciting to have hopeful anticipation for fresh starts and NEW TIME.

NEW TIME is definitely worth celebrating.

We gathered together for the countdown this year at my brother's house for games, questions, reflections, and celebration.

NYE is the time to bring out all the sparkles, glitter, and sequins.

I decorated just a bit with some puffy sequin bows, sequin garland, and a banner.  I used glitter nail polish to write on the black banner pages.

A table full of finger food and shiny sparkles...

Gotta have those popular bacon wrapped, brown sugar crusted, lil smokies!

Ham and Cheese pastry pinwheels...

The boys made chocolate butter candy sprinkled with party gold!

It's super easy...perfect for young little bakers:

Chocolate Butter Candy
Melt 1 cup of margarine in saucepan.  (DO NOT use real butter)
Stir in 1 cup sugar.  Bring to boil over medium heat.  Boil for 5 minutes, stirring constantly.  Pour into 8x8 pan.  Top with a package of milk chocolate chips.  Gently spread chocolate chips as they melt until smooth.  Top with sprinkles or almonds if desired.  Cool.  Break into pieces.

Glitter everywhere BECAUSE it's New Year's Eve of course.  ;)

Red Bull in champagne flutes.

Our boys rarely get caffeine, ever.  They maybe have soda pop 2-3 times a year.  So when we popped open Red Bull energy drinks for them to consume to help them stay up until midnight they never stopped bouncing the entire night.

I love how Dakotah used a salad bowl for his finger food collection.  Blackberries mixed with Doritos.  Ham Pinwheels topped with Reeses Buter Cups.  Why not?

Our entire family gathered in a half circle and we all reflected on our year.  I found these sparkly fun New Year printable worksheets from Wonderful Joy Ahead for us to fill out.

It was a snapshot of who each of us were in 2012.  I collected them and will share them NEXT year to see how we've changed.

Then we waited...and anticipated...and waited...and counted down until that big sparkly ball in NYC fell announcing the NEW YEAR!

When the clock hit midnight, we tore out our own version of confetti: POOF BALLS.
Let's celebrate.

And when the world announces the new year,
 we smile, laugh, be crazy,
dance a little,
and we choose to celebrate life
as we look forward to another
set of 365 days.

Thank you for making every moment special! You have four boys that feel life so much deeper than I ever thought possible, because of YOU. And I must say, that picture of Kotah launching the poof balls is pretty awesome.

Please tell Dakotah, I like his style...all the goodies in a bowl. Makes eating so much easier... (and that's what my boys would have done!)

You really make every day special for your men. They are truly blessed... And so are YOU. You have a group of men...and more family...who treasure what you do for them. Have a Joy-filled 2013
