Supper Solutions: Meals in Fast-forward

I've had three babies. All in a row. So I know that feeling of craziness after you arrive home from the hospital with a precious little thing who steals your sanity and your sleep that you once so freely enjoyed.

To prepare for those trying first weeks of being a new mom I made 30-35 meals in advance shortly before I had each baby. The idea was from my mom who did Once a Month Cooking a handful of times while I was growing up. I have done it only 3 times: before I had each baby. It was a brilliant solution for those seasons of my life! Basically, my mom and I followed this cookbook:Once-A-Month Cooking. We shopped and cooked for 2 1/2 days and ended up with 30-35 wonderfully prepared meals each in our freezers!

A few years later I discovered a new business trend that used the system I explained above EXCEPT in Fast-forward Mode!! What once took 2 1/2 days of very hard work now could be accomplished in a couple of hours. Supper Solutions is the franchise in our area that I experimented with and was instantly sold. I have gone there several times over the last few years and enjoyed every moment (and every meal!).

The food was delicious,

the atmosphere was pleasing,

and the satisfaction I felt
when I filled my freezer with dinners was IDEAL.

Here are some photos from a past visit and that time I had two adorable helpers!

I like the meals you make there too. They are tasty and healthy. Looking at the pictures reminds me how fast our boys are growing up! :(

That is a great idea, Lisa. And it would be good, too, for someone about to have surgery who doesn't want to have to stand and cook.

Sheila :-)

When I lived in Colorado I really wanted to try Supper Soultions. It seems like such a great idea.

Lisa, believe it or not, it's still current, and someone I know has the same flatware. The name of the company is called: Gourmet Settings. Go to their website, and you can find it there. I think it's still at Target, too! :-)

XO,

Sheila :-)

We have something similar here in Michigan, and I adore it-it has saved my sanity, and I don't have nearly as many gray hairs as I should have because of that place!
I hate cooking-and when my husband is out of town, I pop in a ready made (by me!) meal-and it is fantastic!

Oh yum! Oh what a great DIY project. You are one clever and crafty girl.

I just finished a project that took 23 years to complete.
Come take a peek.

I wish we had something like this locally, or that folks around here would use it (so I could start a franchise). Love this idea!

Found you on WFMW, When we got married my husband planned our honeymoon for a lake cabin in December and he went to a place like this and made all of our meals for the week so we wouldn't have to cook. It was absolutely delightful!

How cool! WE have a few of these type of places in our area. :D I have a friend whose sister owns one.

I wish they had something like that around here! I would love to try it!

I have three boys, too. :) They sure keep you hopping, don't they? Lol!

Cooking ahead is great, but I don't understand the advantage of going someplace special to do it. There's a fee beyond the cost of food, right--how much? What makes it better than cooking at home?

I just started OAMC at home...well more of a dedicated day of cooking. It's been such a time saver!

We have several different places like this in my area. Such a convenience...especially when there is an emergency meal needed!

Marty lived in the guest quarters of a plastic surgeon before we married. The doc's wife shopped once a month, then cooked for 2 days...packaging everything in single servings...and froze it all in their gigantic freezers. At a moment's notice, she could prepare a meal for her husband in just minutes. I always thought I would be this organized...NOPE! But I do cook lots of 20 minute meals...and they're quite good!
