Celebrated Day of American Bounty

We celebrated Thursday with traditional American Bounty, retelling stories of the Pilgrims and Indians to the kids and counting our blessings! Most of you have already seen the Thanksgiving table set up HERE. But this post is about the yummy goodness of the day!

The holiday kicked off with a surprise delivery of this gorgeous Fall bouquet from my Sweet friend and cousin, Jessica and her family. These flowers delighted me and made my spirit ready for the festivities.

I framed our Dinner Menu as you see here.

This is what the menu reads:

Thanksgiving Menu 2009
Buttermilk-Brined Turkey with Savory Gravy
Green Beans tossed in Mushroom Sauce
Creamed Potatoes Mashed
Ginger-Spiced Cranberry Sauce
Assorted Homemade Pies

5 Cheese Macaroni for the kids

This Cranberry Sauce was made with
Crystallized Ginger making it {extra} delicious!
Nothing beats homemade rolls on Thanksgiving Day...
Apples, Cranberries, fresh herbs, and bread equals
stuffing heaven.

I made the Marbled Pumpkin Cheesecake on the cake plate
and my Mom made the Chocolate Cream Pie and Traditional Pumpkin Pie.

She makes the absolute BEST pie crusts EVER. ;)

After dinner it was time to search the ads
and plan our Black Friday early morning 4am quest
into the madness!

We played games in the afternoon
and the kids had fun with some Christmas kick off treats
from Grandma and Grandpa!

I received this beautiful hostess gift from my Amazing Mom!
...look at the adorable thank you tag!!...
She knows me well, I will LOVE this (Gooseberry Patch!!) book.

Happy Thanksgiving from our Family To Yours!

Lisa, you are too humble! I have never told you this, but I am not a huge thanksgiving dinner eater. For twenty some years I have eaten large amounts of OK food on this November holiday... Not this year! The turkey was by far the best I've ever had. The green beans are one of tasting foods I have tasted. Ever. The potatoes were just how I like them. Your macaroni & cheese is the first I have had that I preferred to what comes out of the blue box. This is the only stuffing I've had that I ate more than one bite (yes really), and the rolls were up to the usual Lisa standard of roll perfection. Even the appetizers were so yummy that if dinner wasn't so perfect, I could have walked away satisfied. Now that I've made myself hungry again thinking about it, I hope you realize what a high standard you have set for next year!

Your boys are just so cute! What precious little angels you have there!!!

Everything you do always looks so perfect and I like the idea of the fresh fruit with the tortilla wedges. Can you maybe do a tutorial on these? I'd love to learn! :)

YOu asked about the Daily Bread pillows ... I don't have any left, however I can make one up for you. Do you want the twine to hang it or one with no hanging option. Just let me know. Just drop me an email at sweetcottagedreams1@comcast.net

thank you and have a sweet weekend!

The flowers are gorgeous, the food looks yummy, and it looks like a fun time. That was awesome of you to make a mac & cheese for the kids. I probably would've taken a spoonful as well.

Yum! Everything looks so great! I love that your mom brought you a hostess gift, my mother taught me to never go to a party without a gift! I especially miss her at this time of year and it's nice to see another mother and daughter that share that closeness. =)
