Our skin, forever adorned

Art on our skin...
Chris and I have wanted to get our second tattoos for a few years now, and we finally did!  We have forever adorned our skin with sentiments of what we love.  Often our life experiences are worn on our skin.  Scars show what we've endured and how resilient we are, laugh lines show the blessed times of bliss, brow creases show the concentrated stressful moments, skin changes show our days spent playing under the sun, and tattoos can reflect our personality magnified or they can show testaments of our passions. Each part of our skin is a perfect picture of where we've been and who we are.

Our personal tattoos so far have all been symbols of what we live for everyday.  They are permanent etching into our skin of our passions, and a new permanent attribute to our identities.

Tattoos are a choice:
a choice to create
and to outwardly share ourselves with the world.

Our whole family of 5 came to the old tattoo shop on the day we got inked.  The boys were nervous for "Mama and Daddy"
Poor little Titus was very worried and concerned for "Mama" as he watched me get mine.

I got a variation of the infinity circle with the number five spelled out.  Five is obviously each member of our family, and the infinity circle means we are a united team for always, with no ending.  It symbolizes our teamwork, togetherness, and mutual support for one another and is a reminder for us to never lose sight of those things as we move forward in life!

My vision was to have my tattoo artfully placed on my inner wrist to act as a simple accent, not serve as the main attraction to my body.

Just a subtle bit of adornment...

 And now Chris' tattoo:

Chris has wanted my name for a long time BUT he thought of the coolest idea recently to use my actual signature for the font!  Awesome idea!  So, his tattoo is my real signature (all the fancy lines underneath aren't part of my signature though...) haha ;)

I think it's pretty darn cool that in this great big little world there is a person who has my signature permanently etched onto his skin.  To me, it was an awesome action of love and commitment and it felt like a pretty gift wrapped in a giant red bow.

Wearing our hearts on our sleeve...

I didn't realize how special and giddy it would make me feel to have my named tattooed on my lover's body. Before, when Chris had mentioned wanting my name tattooed, I causally thought it was cool BUT it wasn't until he got it that I actually FELT this wild happiness about it all!  That boy loves me like crazy and that's one of my favorite things about this little life!

Did I mention how extra hot this makes him look?!

In closing, a song from one of our favorite artists, Jack Johnson.  Chris often sends me this song for me to listen to during our day to day life, just because.

"Better Together"

There is no combination of words I could put on the back of a postcard...
Our dreams, and they are made out of real things...
Love is the answer,
At least for most of the questions in my heart
Like why are we here? And where do we go?
And how come it's so hard...

I'll tell you one thing,
it's always better when we're together

Mmm, it's always better when we're together
Yeah, we'll look at the stars when we're together
Well, it's always better when we're together
Yeah, it's always better when we're together

And all of these moments
Just might find their way into my dreams tonight...
With only two
Just me and you
Not so many things we got to do
Or places we got to be
We'll sit beneath the mango tree now....
And there is no combination of words I could say
But I will still tell you one thing
We're better together.

The Better together phrase
appropriately summarizes our new set of
forever skin adornment.

I love the tattoos. I still really want one more, but I haven't convinced my husband that I should get one yet. (not that I need his permission, but I want him to like the idea too)

Your hubby is lucky you have such awesome handwriting. My signature is ugly ;)

I am glad these tattoos make you and Chris happy. Your choices are really sweet.

For me...not something I could do. (and I have thought about it). I hate needles...and I have to use them several times a day (*@#N diabetes!)I even fainted when I had my ears pierced!

I like the meaning they have for you. I'm wanting a wrist tattoo. Something simple like what you have.

Those look fantastic!! Me and my husband just celebrated our 8th anniversary!! So we went and got tattoos. My husband is a very avid hunter. So he got 5 geese on his upper arm, and I got 5 ducks on my upper back. Each represent a member of our family. These were supposed to be done on our 5th anniversary, but I am sure you know, tattoos are pricey!!!

As a side note, aren't I lucky to have a wife with such pretty handwriting?

Love your tats and the thought that went into them. After my cancer diagnosis me and my girls decided we want "Life is beautiful" tattoos but we're still deciding on the design.
