Girlfriend's Neapolitan Party

For my Mom's birthday, we celebrated with a small circle of some of her girlfriends over some sweets and coffee.

Every detail, color, and flavor focused around neapolitan. Because, neapolitan represents the times when you can't just choose ONE good thing in life to savor, so you choose to enjoy all!

Chocolate?

Strawberry?

OR....

Vanilla?

hmmm, all 3 yes please.

Of course, this party couldn't be without the classic Neapolitan boxed ice cream.

I also made a 6 layer Neapolitan cake with whipped chocolate ganache between each layer and fresh strawberry jam frosting. I found this cake on the always incredible Sweetopia! Her recipes are amazing and styling is perfection.

My boys asked why I was making Grandma six birthday cakes instead of just one. They also LOVED watching the cakes get stacked.

All the boys made her cards but Cameron, my oldest, made her a TALL card that matched the TALL cake!

I discovered the ideal venue to celebrate at a proper Victorian coffeehouse called CUPS.

Cups Coffehouse is snuggled in the corner of a renovated Victorian house, called the Miller Homestead. They have a gift shop with unique treasures. They also serve up goodness on their mismatched, vintage silverware, plates, teacups, and saucers.

Doilies, Lace, Roses, Pastels, everything dainty and girly for this breezy afternoon celebration on the back porch.

I framed an antique dyed paper doily for her birthday message banner.

I made another paper doily garland, similar to the springtime garland I made earlier this season. Using paper doilies, I dyed them antique white, light pink, and mixed with some white doilies to include every color in neapolitan.

Clear scalloped plates over doilies made feminine place settings.

A short while ago, I received this fun package in the mail from France!

They were delicate napkin rings and worked beautifully for this party. Each napkin ring is wrapped uniquely in vintage lace from French Felt.

The back porch was decorated with soft & pretty roses and other flowers.

Sweet flowers topped the cake too...

These adorable homemade vintage lollipops are from Vintage Confections. They are flavored to taste just like Neapolitan ice cream!

Some were wrapped up as party favors to go too.

The ice cream cones were made delicate with wrapped doilies.

I also made a family favorite cookie in our home: our classic ribbon neapolitan icebox cookies!

The cake, of course, was the best of all flavors: strawberry, vanilla, and chocolate.

My Mom and a sweet circle of friends...

Polly, Katherine, My Mom, and Jill

Girl talk about pretty things, shopping, and just stuff...

One of the girlfriends: Jill

Cake, cookies, and ice cream is served.

The afternoon was spent enjoying
pretty moments with pretty hearts.
It's a blessed life we each get to live.

Happy Birthday Mom.

Thank you for making the moments of my life pretty.

Make a wish,

make a thousand,

that way for sure

one will come true!

Oh wow! How beautiful and original. I love it! Your cake is so impressive and I am craving a piece of it and one of your pretty cookies too. Will you share the recipe? Your mom is blessed to have you, she is obviously a great mom too :)

This is precisely what I was talking about in my email to you: I was sitting at work, thinking about Mother's Day, and I just had a feeling that you'd have a sweet post on the topic! Happy Birthday to your beautiful mom! How truly blessed you both are to have each other.

I lost my mom to cancer when I was 17. I'm always happy to see moms and daughters sharing and spending time together. Life is so short ~ never forgot to take the time to make those special moments memorable.

It is very obvious how loved your mother is for you to go to this much trouble. Looks like a great party. I'd take some of that cake if I was there, but I simply adore the ice cream cones with the doilies around them.

Lisa, you've done it again! This party idea is wonderfully "girlie". And I am betting you had so much fun planning this non-little boy party. I know your mom and her friends thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
