PART THREE: Birthday Hot Air Balloon Ride Family Adventure

This is part THREE of a THREE part blog series.

PART ONE, Lemonade Truck Surprise at School

PART TWO, Hot Air Balloon Birthday party and night lanterns

Last week I shared all the details of Titus' hot air balloon birthday party.  His mysterious gift was a surprise morning ride in a hot air balloon.  Today, I'll be sharing all the fun from our adventure.

Titus' birthday was in the spring.  We waited for the warmer summer months to appear before setting out on our balloon adventure.  In the time leading up to our flight, Titus read a lot of books about hot air balloons.  He also made some super cool LEGO hot air balloons!

I think these are just the COOLEST! He gave each balloon it's own name too.

He played with his LEGO balloons often, as he counted down days to his real life ride.

Our first scheduled balloon flight got cancelled due to weather.  Titus had to wait a long time for this day and he was excited and ready! We completed our balloon adventure in beautiful Boulder, Colorado.

Hot air balloons always take off in the early morning hours.
The earth wakes up with magnificent shades of gold that reflect beauty
on everything the sun rays touch.

(for probably the third time in my life, ha!)
I was up and awake
to witness the sunrise and it was glorious

Sleepy head...but always happy.

Titus is a morning boy, just another reason why this was the IDEAL gift for him!

Titus and I wore our matching hot air balloon shirts for this special day!

Our balloon team provided us with some early morning snacks before we took flight.

Preparing for the balloon launch was breathtaking.  The quiet morning, golden sun, mighty mountains, fields of tall grass, and giant colors slowing blooming into the air over fire, created a magic unlike any other.

Rise and shine!

Colors blowing up gracefully,
filling the new sky.

Chris and Cameron chose to be on the ground team, chasing our balloon down.
Dakotah, Titus, and I chose to go UP in the big balloon!

T

Our balloon was the yellow and black, Charlie Brown.

Let's do this!

Up, up, and up!

I hope we never ever lose this sense of wonder.

I love these little souls so much!!!

The earth pulls away from us as the heavens embrace us.

It's a quiet magic,
just little whispers of how striking our world is.

And my eyes fix on the ones I love most.
Then, I close them tightly and purposefully,
trying to absorb the almost painful sensation
of being awestruck by overwhelming love.

And just like that... another moment is over.
We start our decent as
the heavens send us back down to our earth.

This world gives us so much.
Our arms are wide open.

Chris, Cameron, and the balloon crew were waiting for us at the bottom.  Chris and Cameron actually did a great job chasing us!  We spotted them here and there, along the entire ride.

Always a helper.

Bucket List, check!
Happy Birthday youngest.

We did it,
Sky floaters 2015!

Hot Air Balloon adventures have hosted post flight
 traditional champagne toasts
and pinning ceremonies for years.

Cheers to the sky!
Cheers to light,
to color,
to living,
to God's great big beautiful world!

Let's rise in the sky when we dream,
pausing to shout our biggest wishes into the air,
letting the grand sun circle full on our faces,
feeling every sensation.

Then,

Let's take off and run on solid ground,
 laughing lots, crying sometimes,
loving always, and forever carrying on.
