Happy Valentine's 2011.
Breakfast for two! Whole wheat pancakes with homemade blueberry buttermilk syrup provides just enough sweetness to start the day.
For the syrup I quickly combined butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, buttermilk, and vanilla and cooked on the stovetop. You can add cooked blueberries to it as well!
It's all about taking 10 seconds to add details to the little things. Fruit is beautiful! Serving fruit in a pretty dish instead of just opening the plastic lid is a super fast way to make something super special.
Festive food, a little bit of decor, and of course some projects with the boys!
...because a little bird told me that they won't stay this way forever. So I'm breathing in every single excited laugh, every tiny little jump as they create something new, and every wide smile as each new holiday approaches.
Love is an overused word and that's a good thing! Squeeze the loves in your life. Use Valentine's Day to add some sweetness to this winter month.

What a sweet post - a very heartfelt post from a loving Mom (no pun intended). Love it- Diana
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet post! You are definitely teaching your men that women love all these little loving touches. They will one day shower their ladies with sweetness.(Their dad has a lot to do with this, too! Your boys are seeing, firsthand, how to LOVE.)
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, V-day got a little lost in our home...probably because it was WG's birthday. But the loving lessons were still learned...and all the guys are true romantics everyday of the year.
Sweet hugs,
Jane (artfully graced)
Love the bottles!
ReplyDeleteVery sweet post! It is so special to take the time to do things with and for the ones you love!
ReplyDeleteI love those cute little pancakes you made and I have to try your syrup recipe!
XO,
Jane
You are just too cute!
ReplyDeleteYour lavender color scheme is a nice alternative to pink or red. Beautiful as always!
ReplyDeleteThanks for showing that little touches can have maximum impact - like making a heart out of blueberries. I am going to try your syrup. Yumm!

I love those pancakes, with the powedered sugar. We also love doing all kinds of projects for Valentines day. My favorite project this year was cones covered in conversation hearts.

Hi Lisa
ReplyDeleteRight back at you...You make me want to visit Colorado! But then, I would have to buy a coat, boots, etc. (Actually, I just bought some boots to wear in Cleveland in April...outdoor rehearsal dinner in the woods...and COLD to this FL girl!
I hope you enjoy the salad!!! It's really good! (I did cheat this time...I used some leftover dressing from Olive Garden. That works, too!)
I've never really been into valentines day before but this year I guess it's all the crafts or something with the kids because I've been all about Love lately! Thanks for your post, it was great!!
