Try a BOOK List

I recently mentioned the importance of reading and how much I thrive on it. I have old weathered books who are my companions in life. (that sounds a little nerdy, but hey...just sayin) They're an extension of me because in those pages I formed my foundations, chose my styles, grounded my values, created boundaries, discovered worldviews, learned how to be better and do better, and sometimes just had great escapes. The bookshelf that stands in my office is ME. A stranger can graze through those books, or scan the titles and know who I am without ever setting eyes on me. The bookshelf is my PERSONAL BLUEPRINT. It mirrors my identity and shows the roads I've traveled so far in life.

Every summer I scribble a BOOK LIST of good reads. If you like the satisfaction of making and reaching goals (or simply crossing things off a list) you should try this! It works to WRITE out a book list! You will read more this way guaranteed. What's on your book list? I am always looking for a good book, so I'm interested.

  1. Thanks for pointing me to your book post today! :) Loved seeing your list - the only one I've read is Freakonomics & was really fascinated by it. You mentioned some good ones that I think I'll be adding to my ever-growing list - thanks!

  2. Thanks for stopping by my blog!

I've been married for 9 years as well and have 3 kids. The first two are boys but the youngest is a girl.

I keep a to-read list on goodreads.com but I haven't been to faithful at following it. I like to hit the library and just pull off the shelf whatever looks interesting. My favorite genres are sci-fi and fantasy.

  3. That's a good idea! My friend and I started a 52 books in 52 weeks challenge. We're on week 22 and going strong! Every monday I post a review of the book I read on my blog. Thanks for the tip!

  4. I have 3 boys too - I enjoyed poking around your blog a bit! I love to read, but don't make as much time for it as I should. My husband has bookshelf like yours, it sounds... you could learn much from his life by examining the contents of his bookshelf. ;)
    Thanks for the inspiration,
    Angela

I SO treasure EVERY comment. I am not able to respond individually to each one anymore, although I TRULY wish I could! It is hard for me to say that because I love hearing from everyone and sharing back. I still try my best, but it may take awhile! :)

ALSO, I am unable to link up to new link up parties due to time constraints. Thank you for your understanding.

Thank you for EACH lovely note! <3 I appreciate YOU.
